Appuni Chemmachel MSW, ASW, is an Associate Social Worker who works with UC Berkeley students and young adults experiencing anxiety, stress, identity exploration, and major life transitions. They specialize in supporting clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves within high-pressure academic and social environments.

Appuni brings a unique background as a full-spectrum doula, offering support around gender transition, birth, abortion, and end-of-life experiences. This work deeply informs their therapeutic approach, grounded in respect for the body’s intelligence, emotional wisdom, and the profound impact of transition. Appuni helps clients build partnership with their bodymind, understand what it is communicating, and how to respond with courage and compassion. 

Their approach integrates mindfulness, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed practices to help clients feel more grounded, resilient, and in alignment. Appuni is especially attuned to the experiences of QTBIPOC students and those navigating questions of identity, belonging, and becoming. Therapy with Appuni offers a steady, thoughtful space to reconnect with your inner wisdom and move through change with greater confidence and care.

Appuni ASW (Registration # 133221 ) works in person in Berkeley on Thursdays and  is supervised by Dr. Sahar Dorani Bizimungu Psy # 28629,  and Dr. Tyia Grange Isaacson, LCSW Ph.D Lic 23716
